Default Alignment: Center text but Right numbers.

I have an equation in B16 which, if B10 has a valid entry, will bring in a
factor. This factor should be aligned to the Right, or General (as numbers
align to the right automatically). However, if B10 is invalid, my B16
formula puts text in B16, and I would like that Centered. I cannot find a
way to Center under Conditional Formatting, but I am wondering if there is a
different way to Center when the text is there?

Try this worksheet event macro:

Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()
Set b16 = Range("B16")
With b16
If IsNumeric(.Value) Then
.HorizontalAlignment = xlRight
Else
.HorizontalAlignment = xlCenter
End If
End With
End Sub

Because it is worksheet code, it is very easy to install and use:

1. right-click the tab name near the bottom of the window
2. select View Code - this brings up a VBE window
3. paste the stuff in and close the VBE window

If you save the workbook, the macro will be saved with it.

To remove the macro:

1. bring up the VBE windows as above
2. clear the code out
3. close the VBE window

hi, Brad !

1) apply a center-alignment to your range (B16)
2) apply a custom number format "filling left" w/spaces if number (i.e.)
* 0;* -0;* ;@

hth,
hector.
