Default ANOVA with two factors

Excel 2003
Need to know how to use ANOVA in the Analysis toolpack with two factors.
Data looks like this in four columns.

1 1.19 1.09 .199
..334 1.1 .329 .923
..709 3.29 .386 .211
..416 1.83 .488 4
.562 .138
.361

When I used ANOVA Two factor w replication. Seemingly whatever arguments I
use in the dialog box I get this error: Anova: Two factor with replication
- each sample must contain the same number of rows. Even if I populate the
empty cells in the example above, I get the same error message.

Default ANOVA with two factors

G'day Ted

I'm No MVP Guru, nor do I know much about ANOVA, & I may be reading this
totally wrong, just an observation!

In your example:

1 1.19 1.09 .199
..334 1.1 .329 .923
..709 3.29 .386 .211
..416 1.83 .488 4
.562 .138
.361

Assuming the range is A1:D6, then it appears you have empty/blank cells at
A5:6, C5:6 & D6, have you tried it like this:

1.000 1.190 1.090 0.199
0.334 1.100 0.329 0.923
0.709 3.290 0.386 0.211
0.416 1.830 0.488 4.000
0.000 0.562 0.000 0.138
0.000 0.361 0.000 0.000

This way, each cell will have a value represented and the row count will
evaluate as 4, whereby your example counts

Row 1 Thru 4 = 4
But
Row 5 & 6 = 2 & 1 respectfully.

HTH
Mark.

Default ANOVA with two factors

Ted M H -

According to the "Anova: Two-Factor With Replication" section of the Excel
2003 Help topic "About statistical analysis tools," the input range should
include labels in the first row and column. And I think each sample (values
corresponding to a combination of a row factor and a column factor) must be
the same size. It's not clear to me how your data set meets these
requirements.
