Why will my destination file only update if the source file is open? If the
source file is closed, I get the error message: Unable to read file. Please
help!

Multi-posting is frowned upon in these groups.
Regular respondents go through all the groups, so it's best to stick with a
single request.

See a response in the misc. group asking for more info.

That's a "straight" link, with no functions involved.

Do you get the "Update Links" request when you first open the destination
WB?
