Default Referencing Cells on Another Sheet

I have 6 cells going across rows:

F2 is a text box
G2 is a date
H2 is a date
I2 is a text box
J2 is a text box

When I reference these cells:
if there is not a value in the text box to copy over, I get 0 in the "new
cell".
if there is not a value in the date box, I get 0-jan-00.

I have to reformat the new cells each time, which is a drag....Is there any
way to reference them and not have to reformat each time. That is, when they
are blank, not get the 0 for blank text and 0-jan-00 for the blank date.

Thanks.
