PIVOT and lookup
I am struggling with the best way to summarize data.
Here is an example of what I am trying to do. I manage several projects where one project might affect multiple site locations. In addition, I might have several projects occuring at one site. I am trying to better understand and manage timelines at each site for all projects. Here is how the data is feeding... I have a raw data feed that contains in multiple rows, a name of a project, site name where project is occuring, and a column for each construction target dates/milestones for that project. I did a PIVOT to bring each site name in the data rows and each project across in the data columns. I did copy/paste special/values to a separate worksheet and from there I want to insert (via a lookup function I assume) one of the specific construction milestone dates that would correspond to both the site and the project. Just doing a vlookup against the site wouldn't necessarily bring in the right project and just doing a vlookup against the project wouldn't bring in the right site. How/what would be the best way to be able to use both as a reference? Is there a way? -- CJ |
