A man has 5 years remaining on a six year car loan, his interest rate is 8.25%

and his monthly payment is $525.00. His credit union is willing to accept the
present value (PV) of the loan as a payoff. Develop an amortization schedule
that shows how much he must pay at the end of each of the six years. Then
create a worksheet that includes the beginning and ending balance, the amount
paid on the principal and the interest paid for years two through six.
Because he has paid for the first year already, determine only the ending
balance (present value) for year one.

I know this may come easy to someone but I am completely lost here. Please
help!

Check one of your identical posts in other newsgroups.

You start off with one strike because you ought to be doing your own
homework. I (and others, I'm sure) are willing to *help*, but not to
do your homework *for* you. "I don't know where to start", from a
student, usually means "I haven't spent more than a millisecond
thinking about this problem." If you've been paying *any* attention
to your course, there's always something you can do to get started.
So you do that, and then look at the next bit of information in the
problem and see how you can use that. Before you know it, you've
either finished the problem or at least narrowed things down to a
specific question.

But by posting multiple copies you just increase the annoyance level
and reduce people's inclination to help you.

Sorry, I was in a panic and didn't read the rules before I began. Shame on me,
I'm human, make mistakes. That being said. it truly amazes me how people can
make snap judgements of others. You know nothing of my situation and truly
your lovely attitude has given me no reason to disclose any more details of
it to you. I will tell you that I am a 42 year old college student with a
damn good GPA but my experience has not been in Excel Spreadsheets. If I knew
how to do any part of it, I would have tried to convey that in my message.
Thanks for your very understanding and helpful attitude. I thought this was a
forum where help could be found, I guess judgement is an added benefit.

I'll second Gord in saying that the personal attack was uncalled for.
Although the pieces in between are rather good advice, or come from bad
experiences in trying to help students in the past. As Gord said - chalk it
up to a bad hair day.

It is definitely actually a wise move for anyone asking for help to try in
one location - it helps all concerned:
You - because you can see all help provided in one location, and
Those trying to help since they can see the progress of help to date and
don't have to backtrack or cover ground that's already been covered.

It's not just true here. I have helped moderate a rather large site for
about 7 years now and that's the advice we give to folks looking for
assistance there also. In this case, it's a good thing to put all your eggs
into one basket unless you don't get any results at all in a reasonable
amount of time. What's reasonable? Around here, if you haven't gotten a
response within 24 hours, it's probably safe to try another group - and it
helps if you mention at that time that you tried elsewhere and received no
responses, AND go back to the other location and respond to yourself with
something like "am trying for help here now: insert link to new post - if you
have any help for me, please reply there" -- again it helps keep all the
questions/answers/progress in one neat pile.

I'm going to throw in my $.02 here..
1. Post with ONE name in ONE group ONLY. Those of us who help on a regular
basis read the majors like
excel, .misc. worksheetufnctions, programming.
2. Use a "meaningful" subject line such as "Financial Function"
3. Show us that YOU have made an effort to solve your own problem by posting
your code or formula attempts for comments and suggestions. We are not your
tutor and do NOT do homework. You learn by doing.
4. Stay in the original thread. If you are to get an answer you will get it
there.
5. Remember that we are unpaid volunteers that are also human.

I meant it rather sarcastically, really, as I guess this is as far as
one is going to get towards an apology, from someone who can be that
scathing in an attack.

And I am seriously sorry that I did not read the rules. As I stated in my
response in another thread, I was panicked and did not take the time to read
them before I posted, I did apologize for that. I did not realize I was
"provoking" anyone at the time, I certainly am aware that my behavior
disturbed you, Mr. Brown. My intent was to get help, not screw up your day.
How ridiculous this is.
