Default Updating lookup table

I have an sheet that allows users to select a name from a dropdown list and
previously entered comments appear. (VLOOKUP) The problem I have is if
changes are made to those comments I need to update the grid with the new
comments. For example:

A1 = (employee1, employee2, employee3)

A5 = VLOOKUP($A$1,$AA$1:$AZ$59,2) where AA1:AZ59 contains comments

Users then change the comments entered in A5. How can I copy those comments
back to the lookup table on the appropriate row? (Keeping in mind the
appropriate row changes based off what was selected in A1.)

Any help would be appreciated.
