I feel Pivot Table will do Just the Trick that you want to Pull out... Create a Pivot Table {Data - Pivot Table} of the Data to be analysed. Drag in the Columns as first 'Code no.' and then 'amt.'. The data will fall in just as you had asked for. Hope that helped.
