Default Lists and locked cells

I've just discovered Lists in Excel, and find them very useful. With list I
can add more rows and let functions, validations and formatting expand
accordingly and automatically.

In my list area there are certain columns with functions that I want to
protect. Others should allow entries. In plain spreadsheet with no list, I
can easily achive this by unlocking cells ment for entry and switch
protection of spreadsheet on.

With the list, however, switching on protection also seems to disable me
from entering new rows even if i allow "insert rows" in the dialog box.

Please advise, is it possible to protect certain columns in list and still
be able to enter new rows?

Please advise anyone...

Thanks!
