Default countif in links

Hi,

I am tring to use Countif between workbooks, but can't get it to work. Here
is the formula I entered

=countif[Sales.xls]Sheet1'!$B$2."test"

It does not return a value, What should I do?

Thanks,

George

=countif([Sales.xls]Sheet1'!$B$2,"test")

but since you just test one cell

=--( [Sales.xls]Sheet1'!$B$2="test")

First, the period before "test" should be a comma.

Second, the target files (sales) needs to be open for the formula to
work.
