I have a spreadsheet that I am able to search (FIND) a given value just fine.
Once I protect the sheet the find no longer works. The message returned is
"Microsoft Office Excel cannot find the data you're searching for"

Note: The spreadsheet is partially protected. The value I am searching for
is in the unprotected area.

Not clear what you mean with "partially protected"! A sheet is either
protected or not protected. Depending on how you protected you sheet -
Select only unlocked cells, or select locked and unlocked cells, you would or
would not be able to find a record.

If you, on protecting the sheet, elected to only allow selection of unlocked
cells, you will not find info in locked cells. You will however find info in
unlocked cells. If you elected to select both locked and unlocked cells, you
will find info in both locked and unlocked cells.

I don't find this to be the case with my 2003

No matter which cells I lock or unlock and no matter whether or not I allow
selection of locked or unlocked or disallow either or both my Fine still finds
all on a protected sheet.

Shows you how things develop hey.! I am using 2002, and as I said, if it is
in an unprotected cell, you can find it. If it is in aprotected cell, and the
option to select protected cells is unticked, you don't

I never noticed that when using 2002.

I have uninstalled so can't test but you seem to have done the testing so we'll
leave it at that.

Seeing that you guys were able to perform the find I went through my
spreadsheet again an switched around different things to see if I had
something set wrong.

My sheet is protected with my header section cells locked and lines 7 and
greater unlocked. I had the hidden option checked for all the cells. Once I
removed the hidden selection from the unlocked section I was able to use the
find function.

I am going to test this out a bit more. Thanks for the help! Since you guys
were able to do it, it made me look a bit deeper into my code.
