Default Colum to line

I have a simple one. I have created a basic colum chart with 2 colums
and 1 line. I want to change one of the columns to a line so the chart will
then have 1 colum and 2 lines. Can anybody help me?

Select the series that you want to change, then right-click and select "Chart type" and select the
type of line chart that you want in the dialog that appears.

When I do that, it changes the entire chart. I just want to change one
column on my existing chart from a column to a line.

Bernie's suggestion was the right one. It sounds like you selected the whole
chart, instead of just one data series.

When you right-click on the chart, the little black 'handles' will show on
the border of the whole chart. When you right click on a series you will see
those handles only on the bars (or a subset of the bars) for your selected
series.

You can only do entire series of data - are you sure you have selected just one series, and not the
entire chart?

If you only want to change one point (a single column - not a series of columns), you would need to
change your data source to include a new column of data, with the single data point that you want as
a line moved into that column of data.
