Default Setting the last row in a sheet

I've been using Control-shift Down on the last + 1 row. Then right
click and delete. Save and close.

But this leave columns still showing a background colour (if they have
one) and as you scroll down and they go on and on... is this
indicating something is still present and using memory ? Can you have
an absolute end row in the sheet?

Thanks - Kirk
