I am new to excel programming with vba .
I have worked with excel but i am completely new to vba. Any sugesstion on
how to start with. I mean any references?

Hi Azhar

The best thing to start with is reading some good stuff on the web.
Try beginning with the Wikipedia entry for vba
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_...r_Applications, that's
always a good starting point. This will give you just an overview of
what vba is. You can follow the links as well.
Then there is a bunch of really good websites, like:

The language reference of microsoft is also not bad

This websites are however a little advanced and more problem-based
than really tutorials. I'd recommend you a book, if you have no
programming experience. daily dose of excel has a good book list on
the topic

Start with a project - something you really want to do. I started with
trying to write something to help me do class timetabling.
I found "Excel VBA for Dummies" by john Walkenbach very useful when I
started. Good on userforms - which will get you hooked. I also use
Excel 2000 (2002, 2003...) VBA published by Wrox and written by
Stephen Bullen, John Green, Rob Bovey and Robert Rosenberg. Very
detailed, but you will need some experience of the Excel VBA object
model to know where to look things up.

I agree that the best way to begin is by taking on a project you want
to do. I would recommend that you
begin small. I guess it also depends on how much programming
experience you have. If this is your
first attempt at programming, you probably want to read some basic
tutorials on programming.
Learn how to use the code and control toolbox. Once you understand
the basic constructs, you can build bigger projects.
And if you get stuck, submit your code on this forum for help. There
are plenty of very good programmers
here who have helped me out many times.
