Default Sending cell information to another workbook....

So here is what I want to do: I have an excel document designed to be a
workorder template, I want to fill information out in this template and have
certain feilds transfered to a seperate workbook (basically a register). This
part is no problem, however I want to close and reuse the template again and
each time have the information from the workorder sent to the ``register`` on
successive rows (1,2,3...) everytime.

Is this possible,
and if so how can it be accomplished...
lastly can a control button be used to export the data to the register...

thanks for the help

The Template Wizard with Data Tracking add-in will do this nicely.

What version of Excel do you have?

The template works great but I now have one more question - is it possible to
change the location of the database and still have it updated from the
template? I tried to look at the code properties, however, this information
was password protected.

please advise if this is possible.
and thanks for the help

In second step of creating the template there is a dialog box where you can type
in a path or browse to your folder of choice.

Note: the DB will be in the form of an Excel workbook.xls

Default Sending cell information to another workbook....

I saw this option however, I want the database and template to function
properly if transfered from a home computer to a "work" computer - I tried to
simply move the database.xls to a different folder on my home computer and
the database was not able to update from the template with the following
error occuring "cannot open microsoft excel workbook l:\feild mas\work
orders\ plann expert work order database.xls"

why does this error occur if the database is moved and how can I fix this?

thanks again

The path you specified when you created the Template is fixed.

Other than changing that I don't see a method.

I don't work much with the Wizard so am only guessing here but............

With Excel closed go to Windows Explorer and browse to your Template.

Right-click and "Open"

The *.xlt itself should open in Excel

DataTemplate Wizard

Go through to step 2 and insert a new path to the database.xls

Save and close.

FileNew...Template

if the second computer does not have the template wizard available (for a
number of reasons) is there a way to alter the "fixed" path via macros - if
so how can I bypass the password protection that pops up when I try to look
at the code? - I don't even remember putting a password in this process at
all.

Sorry for all the questions but my teeth are in deep now and I would really
like to find a solution..
