Default Google Getting Flaky?

I have replied to two posts. Google says it was successful, but my
answers never show up on the original post. Also, my favorites (the
ones I mark with a star) have gotten lost and can't be found from the
Favorites page. Are other people having the same problems? James

That has been happening to google lately. they were not updating for almost
3 days. I thought they had it fixed.

They seem to go out fine. It is updating on Google that is slow. This
morning mine were redisplaying in about 10 minutes now it is over an hour
again (this thread does not appear on google groups)

The problems were partly fixed (one's posts were showing up, though not
trackable using one's profile) and now they are... less-fixed again.

"Zone," if Google says the post was successful, other people are seeing
it--unless they are using Google groups. Some people (including me) were
reposting, thinking the original was lost, when it wasn't. It was taking
a day or more to show up via Google, however.

IMO, the solution your problems is to use a real news reader, rather than a
web interface.
Many will already have Outlook Express installed, although other reader are
available, Agent etc

Google (and other web portals) merely access the posts from MSNews servers.
How the format/store/present it after is up to them. And if they do it
badly/not at all, that is hardly the fault of MS.
As for the searches, one for you as the author, the other is all posts
containing your email.

Don't know what "m.p.e.p." means. Surely not "Manual of Patent Examining
Procedure" ?

I'm getting duplicate search results.

Different results when searching on
" and on
".

When I do an advanced search on m.p.e.p on
I get different results then when I'm
perusing m.p.e.p and search on
.

Sometimes pagingation is hosed.

One of two things occurred. I disgrunteled employee hosed everything
and walked of the job, or Google changed how search works to
accomodate some European country and they'd rather live with broken
search that meets the rules rather than working search which doesn't.

I'm still puzzled why Microsoft can put usenet search on live.com. I
fathom it's easier to sue Google than it is for them to make software
that just works.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. At least it's not just happening
to ME! I agree Outlook Expess is a far better way to handle
newsgroups than Google. Unfortunately, repeated attempts to get OE to
work on NGs on this computer have been unsuccessful. I'll start a new
thread on that topic. Cheers, James

Using a real news reader doesn't help if the site you get your feed from is
having problems keeping up.

True, so that's why you connect directly to the source,
msnews.microsoft.com.
