Default Determining Save As Type

Any idea how I can determine the save type of a file without opening the
file? My company has many Excel files saved as type 97-2002 & 5.0/95 which
is hogging a bunch of disk space. I want to crawl the server to find these
but I can't figure out how to determine the file type without first opening
the file.

Thanks,
Sam
