Default Commandbutton flashes, then laout changes

I use XP and Offic 2003 SP2. When I select Command Button from the Contol
Toolbox, and try to draw a new button, the button freaks out. The size is set
to
Height 768,75 and width 0,75. The buttonface is transparent. When I resize
it, the buttonface is blank with an X in the upper left corner. I can assign
code to it and the code runs. When the code is running, the button has a grey
buttonface.
I have de-installed Office and re-installed it.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I do not believe this, but when I disconnected my laptop from the computer,
and started up at home, the problem was gone ????? And, yes, I booted after I
re-installed office....
