Please note that I accidentally posted this message in Outlook.VBA please
excuse the cross-post. I am using Office 2003 with Windows XP. I uploaded an Excel template file (*.xlt) into public folders in Outlook, however, when I double click the icon, the actual template file is opened. I need a COPY of the file opened BASED on the template - i.e. standard functionality, not the template itself. Can this be done? What am I doing wrong? Please help, thanks in advance. |

XP,
You did save the file as a Template, not just change the extension to "xlt" ? NickHK "XP" wrote in message ... Hi Nick, yes, the file is a genuine XLT. Any other ideas?

XP,
see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...548151033.aspx <Quote Accessing templates Templates that you store in your Templates folder, xlstart folder, and alternate startup file location appear on the General tab of the New dialog box. Templates stored in other locations don't appear in the dialog box. Excel opens templates in other locations for edit, instead of creating new workbooks based on them. </Quote I guess this shared folder is NOT one of Excel's listed above. XP,
After actually paying attention to what I wrote previously, this is not true. I can put an .xlt file anywhere and Excel opens a copy (ie normal .xlt behaviour), not the template for editing, as the link states. I'm using Office2000, so maybe in Office2003 they corrected the product to fit this article ?? Nick "NickHK" wrote in message ...
