Default Architectural guidance, please

Hi! I need to create a dataset-bound spreadsheet in C# or VSTO 2003 in such a
way that
rearranging rows (inserting empty rows, moving rows around etc) and moving
individual cells around does not impact the values.

The spreadsheet must be able to persist itself back to a dataset which I am
going to save to a database by making a post to a Java based web service.

What would be the architecture to solve the aforementioned problem? Should I
use smart tags or XML maps Ive been reading about?

Any info/idea/link is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
