That's very odd, this started happening to us recently too. IT rolled out a
"hotfix" which incorporated a new Excel EXE (from Microsoft) - my suspicions
lie in this direction.

You had anything like that updated lately?

Hi guys

It seems Google Desktop can be the problem.
Uninstall it and see if it helps

Default Password Prompt for VBA Project Appears After Excel Quits

Ron,

Funny, but I had the same problem myself.
Had installed Google Desktop and never associated one problem with the
other.
Also had the dual instances in the Project Explorer window (as mentioned in
another thread).
Have since reformatted and reloaded my entire HD from scratch for an
unrelated reason (and, of course, that particular anomaly went away too).

Now, my question.........
How in the heck did you figure this out???

John

I hear it from John Walkenbach yesterday.
