Default VBA-XP-Excel 2000-2003

Thanks for the link. I'll download it.

I rechecked the version that was giving the problem and in fact is xl2002
(my mistake). It seems to be a conflict between the OS/Windows XP and xl02

It seems that each version of excel has a different "standard" to tell if a
workbook is corrupted. I use xl2002 and it seems to be able to open files that
xl2k and xl97 couldn't. I thought that each newer version of xl got a little
more robust.

But I've seen posts that say try opening a file in xl2k when xl2002 couldn't
open it--so maybe each newer version is more robust at somethings, but less
robust at others????)

In any case, corruption could be in one of the worksheets, too.

If you save the workbook in xl2003, can xl2002 open that version?

If no, then lots of people have said that opening and saving the workbook in
OpenOffice sometimes removes the corruption.

You may want to try that:
(http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-65 meg download or a CD)

Sorry, I posted the message before completing the question.

When I try to open the workbook in the computer using XP I receive an error:
excel.exe and I cannot open it. It blocks it with the error message.

I thought it could be sometime of corruption. I found Ron Bovey's Code
Cleaner and ran it. But it still does not work.
Does anyone know if there is a particular problem with XP? Is there anything
published about this problem?

Thanks. I appreciate any help you can give me.

I'm having a problem opening a workbook in a desktop using XP. I created the
workbook in Excel 2000 using Windows 98SE, I transfer the workbook to a
desktop using Excel 2003 and Widows 2000, and it works perfect.
