Default My files don't work after I got new computer

Dear Frank.
The files were created on an old computer (bought 1999) with a Windows
98 program (Word format). I managed to make them work on a new computer
(bought in 2003), but this went down in March. I don't remember which
version of Windows or Word it had. I had a completely new hard drive
installed on this computer in June 2004, and now in has Windows XP and
Word 2000 installed on it. I hope this is a relevant answer.
I asked an experienced guy for his advice, and he told me that the
data are still in the files - the files are seemingly not damaged. I
just can't access the content from the various computers I've tried.
I'd be happy with any piece of advice about what to do with this
problem.

Best regards,
Vincent
