Excel 2000
Windows XP We just recently upgraded our computers to Windows XP and Office 2000. I had some macros that were written in Excel 97. I opened the file tonight and everything seemed to be fine. But when I tried to copy a sheet in the workbook, I got the following error message: "You have modified a signed project. You do not have the right key to sign this project. The signature will be discarded." This is the first time since we upgraded that I have opened this workbook. I signed the project again using the certificate that I created after we upgraded. After that, I was unable to reproduce the problem, and things seem to be working now. What would have caused this problem? Was it caused by the outdated certificate, or is there something else that I need to do in order to make sure that we don't get this error in the future? -- Tom MT DOJ Help Desk Making the world a safer place. |

Hi Tom,
Could you always reproduce this issue? I'd suggest you can sign one another workbook in excel 97 and then test this in Excel2000 again. If not, perhaps your origianl workbook is damaged. If so, it will be appreciated you tell your detailed scenario information and mail the excel workbook to me. I will test this for you. My email address is: (please remove the "online" which is used to avoid spam). If your workbook contains some important data, please build one test workbook signed in Excel 97 and then mail it to me. I will test this in Excel 200 with one environment according to your scenario then. We are experiencing the same issue with some files that we hav
digitally signed. The Marco code performs a lot of calculations then a the end copy data a new tab. Although the macro does not change, we ge "You have modified a signed project. You do not have the correct key t sign this project. The signature will be discarded". This occur regardless of the fact that the tab has a macro on it or not. Is this a bug in Excel? I think we should be able to copy tabs in Exce without breaking the signature... -- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com |
