Default error: reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded

I have set up several hyperlinks from one workbook to another. On som
of them they just go to the open workbook (to the sheet I'v
specified).. I upgraded to office XP and all the new links I add giv
me this message file already open.. "reopening will cause any change
you made to be discarded". So now 1/2 of them work and 1/2 of the
don't..

Thank you for any help you can give me.

btw. I searched the forum and I'm feeling quite silly being the onl
one who has had this problem.. is the solution obvious?

thank
