Default formatting decimal points

I formatted all cells to have 2 decimal points by going
to tools, options, edit, checking fixed decimals-2places.
If I need one or two cells to have whole numbers, in
previous versions of excel all I had to type was the
number and decimal point and hit enter. The number will
then read 1123.00 adding in the zeros after the decimal
which is what I need. Now in excel 2003 when I do that
the number reads 11.23, not adding the zeros as a whole
#. How can I fix this without having to type the zeros
in. This has slowed me down alot.

That does seem to be a change in Excel's behavior with version 2003 and it's
a real good question why this was done. In any case I don't see a fix so
you might just have to type ".0" instead of "."
