Default OWC10, XMLSS and Excel97?

I am creating XMLSS documents using OWC10, which are supported by Excel2000
and XP, but am wondering if Excel97 can open and interpret the document the
same way that the later versions of Excel can.

If no, can someone give me an example of the error message that the end user
would see?

If yes, what happens when the user edits the document and hits save? Is the
document still in the XMLSS format or will it be converted to an Excel 97
workbook.

Thanks.

Ben
