Using Hyphens in a cell
Hello, I am trying to use hyphens in my worksheet. For example, I
would like to enter 6-9 instead of entering 6,7,8,9. But, every time I enter 6-9, it is converted to 38877.00 for a number designation or 9-Jun like it is a date. Any suggestions? |

Using Hyphens in a cell
Try prefixing it with an apostrophe, '6-9 It will show the apostrophe in the
formula bar but not in the cell, Regards, Alan. "Elaskel" wrote in message oups.com... Hello, I am trying to use hyphens in my worksheet. Using Hyphens in a cell
Elaskel
You can get round this Excel problem by adding an apostrophe or preformating. However, it is far worse if you try copying and pasting. Then there is no solution to this Excel problem. These "unhelpful" changes by Excel are a pain and I am suggesting that microsoft malke them optional. Please add your vote to get microsoft to make the change:- Search for "option to prevent Excel changing 1-2-3 to a date" and click on Agree Add a comment to that post, if you wish. regards -- Vince "Elaskel" wrote: Hello, I am trying to use hyphens in my worksheet. Dear Max,
Thank you for the answer. It works perfectly. Sorry I did send my thanks sooner. I was too busy working on the spreadsheet! Thanks again!
