Try moving your book.xlt to that XLStart folder.

And don't click on FileNew...Blank workbook which will bring up the default
workbook. Use FileNew(no ellipsis) or New File Toolbar button. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Mon, 03 Jul 2006 15:18:06 -0500, Dave Peterson wrote: Try moving your book.xlt to that XLStart folder. Thanks Ron
What I don't understand is why I can change my default MS Office template folder and it works for Word and PowerPoint but not Excel. I'm rolling a suite of templates out to 500 colleagues and really only want everyone to have to change one setting and have one folder of templates. It is not very user friendly to have people faffing about with template and start up folders? But I appreciate the speedy response Laura :-) "Ron de Bruin" wrote: Note : If you right click on your desktop and choose New...Excel document it use the file in C:\WINDOWS\ShellNew -- Regards Ron de Bruin http://www.rondebruin.nl "Ron de Bruin" wrote in message ... hi Laura Copy it in your Xlstart folder -- Regards Ron de Bruin http://www.rondebruin.nl "Laura_lsmarketing" wrote in message ... Thanks Dave
I know it will work there but the MS Excel help dialogues imply it should also work in my default template folder. So what I don't understand is why I can change my default MS Office template folder and it works for Word and PowerPoint but this does not apply to Excel. I'm rolling a suite of templates out to 500 colleagues and really only want everyone to have to change one setting and have one folder of templates. Thanks for trying to help so quickly though Laura :-) "Dave Peterson" wrote: Try moving your book.xlt to that XLStart folder. If you're distributing a specific template to your user group, then I wouldn't
name it book.xlt. I'd let the users have their own default workbook template. I'd use a different name (several names) and put them in the a common network folder (if everyone has access to that common network folder). You can change this workgroup folder via MSWord. Tools|options|File Locations tab change the Workgroup templates location Laura_lsmarketing wrote: Thanks Dave I know it will work there but the MS Excel help dialogues imply it should also work in my default template folder.
