Default How can I always get subtotals (4 of 12 records)when I filter a sh

With some spreadsheets, I get an indication of how many records are returned
when using AutoFilter. But somketimes I get no such indication.

How can I turn on the # of records retruned by an autofilter operation in
Excel 2003?
