If you didn't create a backup, then your file is gone?
But did you check all the places that you may have stored it? Did you check the recycle bin? You can tell excel to make a backup by: file|saveAs tools|General Options|Check the "always create backup" This is a workbook setting, so you'll have to do it for each workbook that you want.
