Default Excel File Types

Hi,

Would anyone have any idea how i could find out which file type an
excel file has been saved in another file folder.

Eg File 123 in directory X, saved as Microsoft Excel 4.0 Worksheet, i
would like this detailed in a separate spreadsheet eg:

File Name File Type
File 123 Microsoft Excel 4.0 Worksheet

This would be used for files in multiple locations?

Any ideas? can get for a file that is an active workbook but not for
files in separate locations?
