Default Using PowerPoint to Call Excel/Macro?

I would like my PowerPoint presentation to automatically open up Excel
and run a macro for displaying some Excel plots. If this can be done in
a PowerPoint macro, too, that would be fine. Does anyone know how I can
do this or get more information about this?
