Default Why is Excel truncating my text to 255 characters?

I created a simply spreadsheet in Excel 2007 but am saving as a 5.0/95
workbook to be sure the recipient can open it. Everything was fine until I
emailed it, and it immediately truncated every cell to contain just 255
characters! Now I can't recover the missing data and I am going out of my
mind!

Thats the limitation with Excel upto version 7.0. You should have saved As
'Microsoft Excel 97-Excel 2003 & 5.0.95 Workbook (*.xls)' format
