Default Locked Cells

I have a spreadsheet that contains locked cells. Others have to be able to
type data into certain fields only, but when someone has Excel 2000, they
can't type anything in. It gives them a message that the sheet is protected.
Is there a workaround for this? I created this workbook in Excel 2007.
