corrupted shared excel workbook
I am having a terrible time with a corrupted shared excel workbook. In my
case, this shared workbook has been restored from a good backup but as soon as the users try to access the shared workbook, the file becomes corrupted. The users are accessing the file from different computers and different locations (multiple offices). I believe that there are some temp files that contain old sessions of excel as with one user when she opens the shared file, her version of excel will take a long time and she gets the message that she has locked the spreadsheet even if she has not opened it. The weird thing is that out of say 10 people sharing the spreadsheet, one user can always open and use the spreadsheet and she is in the other office. The spreadsheet is shared on a server and backed up nightly. What can I do to resolve this problem? |

corrupted shared excel workbook
I hate to reply to myself but I am hoping that the experts can help me out
here. I looked at the shared spreadsheet with the help of the network administrator and he pointed out that the users (tools menu - shared workbook) listed in who is sharing this workbook, I could see duplicate user names with various dates. We removed the shared duplicate users, the oldest first and that seemed to help the spreadsheet open better but some users are still opening the shared spreadsheet very slowly. One user is also having problems in that she saves the spreadsheet twice (not sure how as I cannot see what is happening on that server). If anyone can let me know what I can do to solve this problem, I would be grateful. "Edward Letendre" wrote: I am having a terrible time with a corrupted shared excel workbook.
