Default Justifying text across a range of cells Excel 2007?

I cannot justify text across a range of cells. When I select the range and
then click the justify button it justifies the text in the original single
cell. What am I doing wrong? Is there some other format selection that I have
incorrectly entered. I did not have this issue in the last versions of Excel.

I think you want to merge the cells, then justify the text.

Default Justifying text across a range of cells Excel 2007?

I hope this is what you are looking for...

Copy the cell content by pressing F2 and Shift+Home and give Cntrl+C. Paste
it in some other cell other than the Range you have mentioned. Now Select
the Range of cell in which do you want to justifty the cell content. Now do
right click and Select Format CellsAlignmentText ControlCheck the Merge
Cells and Give Ok. Now the Range of cells will be converted into single
cell.

Now Go to the cell where you have pasted the content (value). Place the
cursor on that cell and give F2 and press Shift+Home and give cntrl+c press
escape. Now come to the merged cell and press F2 and press Cntrl+V.

If it is not centered then place the curson on the merged cell and do right
click and Select Format CellsAlignmentText AlignmentHorizontalselect
Center from the drop down and Give Ok

That's it.

Remember to Click Yes, if this post helps!

Please, please, please, don't recommend people to merge cells! Merged cells
are the spawn of the devil.
There are a large number of problems caused by merged cells if you look in
the archives of thse newsgroups.

Why not use "Merge across selection"?

I don't have Excel 2007, but I found the following instructions:

a.. Select your text and the cells you want to centre your text over.
a.. On the ribbon, make sure you are on the "Home" tab, and then look for
the "Alignment" group.
a.. Click on the little square with the arrow in the bottom right hand
corner of the "Alignment" group.
a.. In the "Format Cells" box that appears, look for the "Horizontal" drop
down box
a.. Select "Center Across Selection"
a.. Click "ok"

Ok David sir but the OP is wanted to show the cell content of a single cell
to be justified to multiple cells. That is the reason I have suggested to
merge the cells. Here after I will not suggest it sir.

Default Ok David sir but the OP is wanted to show the cell content of asingle cellto

I agree - NEVER MERGE CELLS - it's a nightmare. However, when I alignment across selection - it did not justify the words one word to the left and the other to the right. UGH! Is there a way then to make a global soft return without merging cells or losing data? I want to replace 5 empty spaces with ALT-ENTER, for 109 pages or type in a word that's left justified, then space and type a word that's right justified. Please help.

Some confusion here, and a lot of questions !!

Note that the choice is Centre across Selection (i.e. several cells).
I'm not sure what you mean by a global soft return.

If you want to replace 5 spaces with Alt_Enter, then select the range
first, then CTRL-H to bring up the Replace dialogue box:

Find what: <sp<sp<sp<sp<sp
Replace with: CTRL-J
Click Replace All

where <sp means you type a single space.

If you want to justify two words across a wide cell, use Distributed
in the Format Cells | Alignment tab, and check Justify Distributed.
For example, with that setting, Hello World will look like this:

Hello** World

whereas Hello my World will look like:

Hello my World
