Default problems with excel and visual basic for applications

I am having a problem with excel 2003 and visual basic for applications.

I have read knowledge base article 837258 and I have applied the hot fix and
some other patches that were available for windows xp and office 2003 but the
problem came back. The problem ocured when excel tried to perform an
autorecovery. The only error message I saw in my spreadsheet was as follows:

An unexpected error has occured. AutoRecovery has been disabled for this
session.

What else can I do to solve this problem.
