How do I convert dates to months in Pivot Tables?
I am working in a Pivot Table one column is dates (01/23/09, 04/04/09 etc.)
I want to group the dates by months but, when I have (Date) in the field column it does not give me the option to group the field it is grayed out. What am I doing wrong? |

Is (Date) the 6 character string ( D a t e ) ?
Or is it a placeholder for a real date? You can only group fields where all the data is numeric (that includes dates). So if you thought all your entries in that field were really dates, you missed one. (Even empty cells won't qualifiy as numeric.) elaihaw wrote: I am working in a Pivot Table one column is dates (01/23/09, 04/04/09 etc.) I want to group the dates by months but, when I have (Date) in the field column it does not give me the option to group the field it is grayed out.
