Default dates vary in a copied sheet

emailed a file and dates on sheet they see are exactly 1 day and 4 years
earlier than actual dates shown on my sheet.

Sounds like you are on the 1904 date system. This can be changed by either
you or the recipient of your workbook at (pre 2007) Toolsoptionscalculation
tab & change the setting for th 1904 date system. This change will affect
otgher workbooks, so be careful.
