Default EXcel 2007

Please can someone tell me how to stop backups of files being created
everytime i save a file and close it have tried looking in save options but
nothing there eseems to stop this happening

This is a workbook setting. So you'll have to change this for each workbook.

Do a SaveAs
Then click on the Tools menu|General Options|and uncheck that Always create
backup.

ps. I actually looked at the dialog for xl2003, but I _think_ xl2007's SaveAs
dialog is the same.

You are correct.. the same procedure applies (although the location of the
Tools drop down has moved from the top to the bottom of the dialog).
