Default Values in cells not showing

I've been using excel for a number of years now, and this is the first I've
ever seen this happen. Starting today, random parts of my sheets will appear
blank, but if click on the cell, the value will appear in the formula bar.

So say A1 has the word "Example" in it. On the screen the cell will appear
blank, but when I click on the cell, the word "example" appears in the
forumula bar only. I've tried changing font, color, alignment, size of cell
etc. The only thing that works is when I use the format painter. Any help
is very much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

This may be a screen refresh problem, to test press PgDn and then PgUp and
see if you can see the stuff in the cells.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately that is not the answer. It has to be
some format thing, because it only becomes visible when I use the format
painter on cells that are showing to paint over those cells where the values
aren't showing. Any additional help is appreciated. Thanks

Do you use multiple monitors?
