Formula generation in Exel 2003
trying to type the ltr X in a column, and have it represent specific #'s from

If you manually flag/mark the designated rows in a col with say, the letter: X, you could then easily apply autofilter on this col, and choose: X to immediately retrieve all flagged rows. No formula needed, just a simple use of Excel's powerful autofilter feature.
