Default I keep getting arrowheads in my cells. How do I get rid of them

These arrowheads can go either in a vertical or horizontal directions and
once thee ,I can't get rid of them. They can be on the line or in the cell.

If Excel 2007, sounds like you have some Conditional Formatting with Icon
Sets.

Home TabConditional FormattingManage Rules.

Clear any rules you don't want.
