Default Downloading quickbooks files to Excel 2007

I would like to export Quickbooks files to Excel 2007 on a quarterly basis
and manipulate the data to prepare quarterly financial statements using
Excel. The probem is that the Quickbooks files are expanded and contracted
based on needs. Therefore, the Quickbooks/Excel links that I set up in one
quarter often do not link properly when I export the Quickbook files in the
next quarter.
Is there any way that the Excel table can be expanded or contracted based on
what has changed in Quickbooks? I'm trying to avoid having to do a detailed
review of all the links each quarter in order that my quarterly Excel
statements come out right.
Thanks
