Default Gray area of spreadsheet

I'm working on somebody else's spreadsheet and there is an area to the right
starting at column X that is dark gray. I can't change the formatting of it
- so I'm not sure what command created it and how do I remove it. If anyone
knows what I'm talking about and can help, thank you.

It sounds like the columns are hidden.

Select the entire sheet by clicking the "button" immediately above row 1 and
to the left of column A. Goto the menu FormatColumnUnhide.

You probably shouldn't do anything. Leave it alone. Why do you need to
"remove it"?Suggest you discuss with the source party for the book before
proceeding.

It sounds like the worksheet is in "Page Break View". Try changing your view
to "Normal".
