I want to copy my macros and macro toolbar in Excel 2000 to another computer
and I have copied Excel10.xlb and PERSONAL.XLS to a flash drive. Is this all
I need to do?

Thanks for any help.

If you're not using the same version of excel, then don't do the toolbar. Just
rebuild it on the new pc the way you like.

But if it's the same version, I'd do this to make sure I got the correct file.

In the old pc:
Open excel
Make a minor change to the toolbar
Close excel

Search for *.xlb. Use the version with the correct last date/time updated.

In the new pc (also running xl2k!):
Open excel
make a minor change to the toolbar
close excel

search for *.xlb. Use the folder that contains that "dummy" *.xlb with the
correct last date/time updated.

If you're doing this to help another person, you may want to tell him/her that
any customized toolbars that they had will be lost. Your version will replace
theirs.

===============
For the personal.xls...

If you're sharing with another person, you may want to rename your personal.xls
to DudleyUtils.xls. Then they'll be able to have their own personal.xls open
when they have your macro file open, too.

Saved from a previous post.

If you're staying within the same version of office...

I have a short list of things to copy/update when we changed pc's at work.

It's not complete, but may help you.

Word/Excel files:

FileName Use
custom.dic personal dictionary
*.acl personal autocorrect list
mssp2_en.exc personal exclusion dictionary
normal.dot default (for new documents) template
*.dot Any other templates you've made

*.xlb personal toolbar
book.xlt defaults for new workbooks
sheet.xlt defaults for new worksheets
personal.xl* personal macros
*.xlt Any other templates you've made

And don't forget any:
Local files (If you don’t store on LAN)
(Settings) Directories and other defaults (Tools|Options stuff)

Thanks for your help. I should have made clear that I may need to get my hard
drive re-formatted and I want to be prepared.
