Default Is it bug or functionality?

Hi,

I have seen a new thing (atleast new for me) in excel 2007 SP1. below are
the steps that i have followed

1. Open any existing excel file and type something in it.
2. Open another existing excel file and type in it.
3. Pres CTRL + Z to undo changes in 2nd document more than one
You will notice that CTRL + Z will also affect the first opened document and
will undo the changes in that document also and will bring that document in
front.
If you have made changes in 4 documents and will keep pressing CTRL + Z then
it will
undo in all the documents.
But it is not working in same way for Word 2007.

Is it a bug or functionality in excel 2007 or virus on my system?

Excel and MSWord are different applications. They behave differently.

It's just the way each of these features work in each application.

Thanks for your reply!
So it means it is functionality about which I was not aware, so next time I
will take care of pressing CTRL + Z so that it will not make any UNDO on the
other opened workbook in which I have made some changes.

It is not a BUG.

In Excel 2007 (default setup) if you open the workooks by clicking on them
then they open in their own instance hence the UNDO works only on the
workbook.

If you open a workbook and then open another one through the OFFICE BUTTON.

Now you next question should be - how to force Excel to open in the same
instance.

I hope someone else answers that. If not then I will research it today and
get back to you.

Hi,

This is not a bug. The product development team in Redmond who handle the
Word areas and Excel areas are quite separate and often impliment features in
different ways.

Even the Mac Excel and PC Excel areas are not always in sync - Just look at
2008 (Mac) verses 2007 (PC).
