Default new to excell

i have a gym with several members. what i want to do is create a formula that
will tell me when the membership expires. for instance at the side of each
name there will be a cell with current or expired so i will know at a glance
who has to renew. Unfortunately, there are weekly, monthly, quarterly and
yearly memberships.

Can you help me????

Even though the memberships can be purchased in a variety of different time
intervals, it is MUCH easier to uses days exclusively.

Say the name is in column A, the membership start date in column B and the
duration in days in column C.

The in column D we use =B1+C1 and format as date. Column D will have the
expirations date.

For example:

James Smith 12/24/08 43 02/05/09
John Johnson 10/19/08 7 10/26/08
Robert Williams 10/28/08 92 01/28/09
Michael Jones 11/14/08 82 02/04/09
William Brown 11/04/08 69 01/12/09
David Davis 12/10/08 69 02/17/09
Richard Miller 11/05/08 75 01/19/09
Charles Wilson 10/24/08 11 11/04/08
Joseph Moore 11/18/08 91 02/17/09
Thomas Taylor 11/21/08 57 01/17/09

It is pretty obvious who has already expired.

Hi
And if you like Gary's Student idea you can also say 5 days or any amount of
days before expiration date, have that cell turn red or any colour by going
to FormatConditional FormattingSelect "Less Than" in second box, third box
put number you likepress Format botton, Patterns Select colour.
