Default Formatting lost when saving excel 2003 file using excel 2007

Suggestion: Just use the other computer and don't worry about it.

I am facing a strange issue with using some excel 2003 files in
excel 2007. When the file is saved as .xls/.xlsm format in excel 2007 and
re-opened again, all the formatting of date and number fields as well as the
color of the cells is lost. When i try to do the same on another machine
with the same file, the original format is retained.
Any views on this issue is appreciated.

Thanks
Anamika
